Kerrie Padmore

Sewing

I’m Kerrie Padmore, the heart (and fabric hoarder!) behind this little corner of the internet. Here, you’ll find a space filled with creativity, kindness, and the absolute joy of handmade living. My mission is simple: to inspire your creativity and share the love of sewing, one stitch at a time. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned maker, I’m here to help you embrace the beauty of creating with your own hands. Welcome to a world where creativity flourishes and every stitch tells a story

As a mum of three and a wife, my love for sewing started with a tiny obsession with buying fabric (let’s be honest, who can resist?!). Naturally, that obsession turned into a business and now I get to share my passion with you through beautifully designed sewing patterns, online classes, in-person workshops and sewing retreats

Katharine Wright

Sewing

Owner and founder of the Leicestershire Craft Centre, Katharine has been crafting since she was seven and her mum taught her to knit – her first handmade gift was a knitted egg cosy for her Grandpa. She continued to knit and sew all through her childhood making dresses for her high school dances, and knitting jumpers for friends while at university.

Katharine has a degree in English Literature and a Masters in Business Administration and has had a wide variety of different jobs. However after taking a career break to have her three children, she has rediscovered her love of crafting and creating and is loving passing on this passion to others.

Dressmaking and patchwork are Katharine’s particular favourites, but she also teaches knitting, crochet, glass fusion, embroidery, weaving and felting, art for well-being and loves to try her hand at other crafts such as silversmithing.

Katharine has taught workshops at a variety of national Craft Events including The Festival of Quilts, The Handmade Festival and Malvern Quilt Festival. She is currently appearing as a Guest Demonstrator on Sewing Street TV and is developing a range of sewing and dressmaking patterns.

Lisa Lam

Sewing

With a measuring tape draped like a stripy boa and a cackle that be heard in the next county, Lisa has spent over two decades perfecting the art of bag making and sharing her enthusiasm with the sewing community.   Known as the “Queen of Bagmaking,” she has transformed bag making from a niche hobby into a mainstream sewing category—all while occasionally sewing her own sleeve to a tote bag (usually live on TV) .

As a long-standing guest designer on Sewing Street TV, Lisa is the undisputed master of “professionalism-meets-chaos”. While she possesses the technical wizardry to turn a scrap of fabric into desirable arm-candy, she is just as likely to stitch a handle on backward or get herself into a muddle on live television ( ‘zip pull-gate’ will haunt her for the rest of her days)

Lisa’s credentials are as sturdy as a leather bag strap.  A stitcher since age 8, a London College of Fashion graduate, and author of two best-selling bag books (with a new title out in mid 2026), she has taught hundreds of thousands of makers how to conquer “zipper-phobia”.  Her bag designs are the ultimate “Goldilocks” of the sewing world: desirable enough to make your friends jealous, yet achievable enough that you won’t throw your sewing machine out the window.

She currently lives in Brighton with her husband and daughter, and a collection of D-rings that she’s pretty sure are breeding in the dark.

Jenny Jackson

Sewing

Jenny Jackson is a textile designer and sewing educator with a passion for all things bright, beautifully stitched and leopard print, of course.

She specialises in English Paper Piecing (EPP), a calming hand-sewing technique, and Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP), its more technical machine-sewn counterpart. Viewers may recognise Jenny from Sewing Street TV, where she regularly demonstrates both techniques with plenty of laughter and the occasional live-TV stumble.

Jenny is the founder of The Stores Sewing Studio in West Sussex, a light-filled studio running alongside her home. Here, she teaches hands-on workshops and hosts guest designers from across the sewing community. Classes are known for their relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and are always well stocked with creativity, conversation, coffee, tea and cake.

She studied Fashion and Textile Design at the University of Brighton, specialising in knitwear (four years of knitting well spent). After graduating, Jenny became a mum and began sewing from home, where she discovered English Paper Piecing. From there, things quickly gathered momentum, leading to pattern design, television work, and the publication of her book, English Paper Piecing Workshop.

When she’s not sewing, Jenny can be found spending time with her son Dylan, her crazy cockerpoo Dave, and enthusiastically daydreaming about renovating her house.

Kay Walsh

Quilting

Kay Walsh is a UK-based textile artist and educator with over 30 years of sewing and quilting experience. Alongside Jenni Smith, she co-authored Menopause Makes, featuring 10 beginner-friendly projects designed to alleviate symptoms like insomnia and night sweats.

Each project thoughtfully pairs with specific symptoms, providing practical solutions and self-care opportunities. The book includes clear instructions, vibrant illustrations, and pull-out pattern sheets for all skill levels.

Beyond authorship, Kay leads workshops focusing on therapeutic crafting benefits. She and Jenni create “crafty travelogues” sharing international crafting insights. Kay’s work emphasises inclusivity and well-being, creating supportive environments where women explore creativity and find solace through sewing.

Jenny Smith

Quilting

Jenni Smith is a UK-based textile artist renowned for innovative quilting and dressmaking patterns. With a television production background (BAFTA-nominated for Ballet Boys in 2011), she founded Jenni Smith Studio in 2012.

Her acclaimed book Quilting with Liberty Fabrics showcases 15 quilts celebrating Liberty London’s history, each representing different decades. She also offers dressmaking patterns like the Hepworth Apron and Riley Top & Dress, supported by comprehensive online tutorials.

Collaborating with Kay Walsh as “Jenni and Kay Create,” they produced Menopause Makes, combining crafting with personal storytelling. Her work emphasises accessibility and community engagement, inspiring confidence in makers of all skill levels through innovative designs and supportive teaching approaches.
